The calendar has officially turned to September, the sun is setting earlier, leaves are changing colors and our weekends are finally with football.
Here at Three-Point Stance, we’re thrilled to get the season rolling. Week 0 was the appetizer for this Week 1 main course. Each week, our crew will provide our betting picks for the games and give our quick takes heading into the weekend. We’ll also be tracking our records for our picks to track our win/loss record and units wagered. s
Let’s jump into Week 1 with an epic weekend starting tonight.
Sam
UNC -5.5 (2 Unit): UNC plays on the road Friday night at Virginia Tech. Sam Howell and the UNC offense should be able to put up points.
Louisiana +8 (1 Unit): The Rajin Cajuns begin the season on the road against Texas. Louisiana returns basically their entire team from the previous season and Texas is in its first year under Steve Sarkisian. Look for Billy Napier and crew to cover.
Michigan State vs Northwestern, Under @ 46 (1 Unit): Whole lot of defense with not a lot of offense. Classic Big10 game with more punts than first downs.
Cameron
Old Dominion +30 vs. Wake Forest (1 Unit): 30 points seems steep for a Wake Forest team. Let’s see what Old Dominion has.
Iowa -3.5 vs. Indiana (2 Units): Indiana was a nice story last season, but I think Iowa comes out firing.
Oregon State +7 vs. Purdue (2 Units): Jeff Brohm is a fraud and no Rondale Moore.
Kent State +29.5 vs. Texas A&M (3 Units): A&M is good, but 30 points is steep. Especially, trying to break in a new quarterback. Kent State can throw the ball around as well.
Marshall +3 vs. Navy (1 Unit): I think there is some value here. Marshall was pretty good last season and spent all offseason preparing for the option.
Texas Tech vs. Houston, Under @ 65.5 (2 Units): I think on paper this game looks to be high scoring but when game time comes it will disappoint.
Tyler
Kent State +29.5 vs. Texas A&M (3 Units): Kent State is Ole Miss Lite on offense so I think they’ll get a few scores. 30 points is too steep, even for Jimbo’s rich taste.
SJSU +14 vs. USC (2 Units): The defending MW champs are fun as hell on offense and I like them to keep it close. I am driving the Clay-Helton-Is-A-Fraud bus so I love the Spartans plus 14.
Fresno State +20.5 vs. Oregon (2 Units): Shoutout to the Solid Verbal Podcast, because this is a let-down-look-ahead-sandwich. Oregon has its biggest game of the year next week. I think they’ll try to get a lead and sit on it. Give me the Bulldogs and the points.
LSU vs. +3 UCLA (1 Unit): Shit is going to hit the fan in a real way if LSU somehow loses this game. I think Chip has his best team yet. Can they keep it close?
UTSA +5.5 vs. Illinois (1 Unit): Hey guys, Illinois still isn’t good. Art the Fart played out of his brain last week against Nebraska. Give me the Roadrunners and some points.
